In Augmented Reality Trends
James M. Benham, the construction technology speaker and an industry leader introduced the SmartReality, an innovative construction tech application in development. This augmented reality app will be released in the coming weeks in Beta stage.
Benham is the President and Founder of JB Knowledge Technologies, Inc. Last Wednesday, he presented the reports of the Construction Technology Integration Survey of 2013 at the Chicago’s Associated General Contractors of America IT Forum. The survey this year drew more than 700 participants across the industry and it is only in its second year.
At the AGC IT Forum, more than 200 of its attendees were intrigued by the trends and statistics revealed by the survey about construction technology usage. In fact, more than half of the respondents of this survey admitted that they are still using spreadsheets for transferring data as they lack proper software integration. Besides, around half of them who are already using cloud software have no idea if their company is using any cloud policies for their data security.
However, the audience of the AGC IT Forum was surprised when Benham demonstrated the SmartReality augmented reality app for the first time in public. This augmented reality app has an unprecedented ability for rendering models via BIM files.
Benham announced, “SmartReality is our view of what can happen when augmented reality and construction technology come together. We’ve seen a lot of theoretical augmented reality products out there…
