AR Technology of the Week: Augmented Reality Advertising on Google Glass by Blippar

Advertising is making its way to Google Glass with the help of innovative companies such as Blippar. They started out being one of the first image recognition techs on Google Glass and have now added augmented reality to their features.

“Blippar is a mobile application that allows users to explore interactive advertising through augmented reality and image recognition.”

“Users can scan a brand logo or the universal “Blipp” symbol, and unlock all kinds of interesting content from the brand. The service already has almost 5 million users worldwide, and more than 750 brands and publishers are on the platform. Blippar is currently available on iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone devices.”

Google Glass has only a few thousand users, but is quickly catching on with more mainstream consumers. Do you think Blippar is the new wave of advertising?
